Insecurity stretches military operations in 28 states –NSA

National Security consultant (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), has said that the dispute of insecurity that peaked in the past 10 years has stretched the military internally. He documented that the result of the force is the occurrence of the infantry either in junction operations with the policeman or in solo effort in 28 states.
Dasuki made this renowned in his address to participants at the nationwide Civil-Military Dialogue in Abuja yesterday. He decried that the past “decade has witnessed multiple types of unrest-from armed robbery, kidnapping, electoral and communal to ethno-religious aggression.

“Currently, we are battling with insurgency and terrorism. This has increased the flag of security claims to levels higher than we have seen since the municipal war. It has intended that the military are seeing more deployments in aid of municipal administration than anticipated.”p Dasuki said that it is not the duty of the infantry to handle interior security procedures.
“While it is the function of the military to assist municipalian administration to handle municipal disobedience, it is presumed that such directions would be conveyed out only when the capacity of the policeman is swamped. Policing the household arena is not the duty of the infantry, whose teaching is directed against external foes of the state.
“However, our recent annals has seen the military in junction undertakings with other para-military outfits actually in about 28 states. In supplement, the infantry is engaged in ascertaining armed robbery and other misdeeds on interstate roads. The NSA suggested participants to take to the grassroots the message of policing the territory as a obligation for all citizens and suggested that it would be correct to take the seminar to the state and localized government grades for more effect and a better protected territory that fosters the peace and development of all.
