Statistics
seem to have finally proven what many citizens had suspected all along
that many Nigerian police officers are incapable of passing a standard
intelligence gathering assessment test.
Reports say out of the 5,000 police officers assessed for intelligence gathering, only 266 qualified.
According to the Assistant
Inspector General of Police in charge of Force Intelligence Bureau
Solomon Arase: “Not every police officer can be an intelligence officer.
After we carried out assessment test on the officers on ground, we
discovered that a lot of them have to go.”
Arase said this in Benin, the Edo
state capital yesterday at the inauguration of Zone ‘5’ Intelligence
Bureau Ultra modern office complex built by W/ASP Patience Omokaro and
her officers through community assistance.
“Intelligence is knowledge-based. If you don’t have the knowledge, you can’t be an intelligent officer,” Arase added.
